We are a group of parents who have been alienated from our children either inside or outside of the court process. We are parents who understand what it is like to live with our children rejecting us without any justification. We know that our children are captured in the mindset of their other parent and we know that this is harmful to their wellbeing.
For too long as individuals and collectively, we have been silenced by the family courts and CAFCASS and in Scotland and Northern Ireland by the family court services which are supposed to support our children. We have suffered and our children have suffered and their lives and ours have been impoverished because of what we have been subjected to.
The ignorance and blanket dismissal of parental alienation in the family court services is, in our view, a disgrace and it has damaged our children and quite possibly their children (our unborn grandchildren). We consider that in the shadow of so little having been done to tackle this generational problem by those organisations which purported to support parents like us, it is time now to take matters into our own hands. The National Association of Alienated Parents is borne not only of our frustrations but our determination that the future will be brighter and better for families like ours in the UK. It may be too late for some of us to get the help we need but it doesn’t stop us from wanting better for other children and their families.
We are a newly formed group which is seeking charitable status which we expect to receive in early 2018. We are a self help group which draws upon the very best skills of those parents who have gone through the nightmare of the family court and survived and who now wish to give something back to those coming behind them. We are also drawing upon the very best skills in the field of parental alienation, from the legal and mental health experts who truly understand this problem and are willing to work with us to help parents who are suffering.
What will NAAP provide for parents and wider family members?
1. A helpline for parents to offer advice, guidance and signposting.
2. A website which will provide forums for discussion and guidance.
3. Lobbying power, in which we will collectively target those who should better serve the needs of our families.
4. Media representation so that our voices are heard more loudly and are more clearly articulated.
5. A think tank which produces proposals for how to help our families. We know that we are the healthy future for our children and we want our ideas to be respected and heard.
